After winning a two-thirds majority in Parliament last April, the party picked up an absolute majority at almost every level of municipal government October 3. As the chart below demonstrates, Fidesz-KDNP has an absolute majority in all of Budapest’s 23 district councils save one (District 13) and in all 23 major-city councils except Szeged. The party also controls 88 of the municipal assemblies in Hungary’s 122 cities whose populations are greater than 10,000.
